What is the Difference Between Charcoal and Briquettes?

Charcoal vs Briquette – Differences explained

Confused on what fuel source to use when cooking you BBQ? this short guide will help you decide.

The fuel source is very important in grilling and smoking but choosing the right fuel source makes all the difference. The two most common types used are charcoal and briquettes. But what is the difference between the two?

Starting off with the Briquette. It does have its pros and cons. The biggest pro is that it lasts a long time once lit. But it does take a little bit longer to light and aside from that, it can contain some nasties like Sodium Nitrate and Limestone.  So if you want an all-natural cook, briquette will not be the best for you.

We prefer using lump wood charcoal because it is the purest form of cooking you can get. It is basically carbonised wood. The only drawback is that it doesn't last long, but what you are trading off is the flavour and aroma it can give to your meal.
