Pizza Oven Accessories

Like with everything in life, when you have the right tools for the job, the job will be easier and more enjoyable. Cooking pizzas in a wood fired pizza oven falls into this category. Sure you can just buy a premade pizza, pop it in a pizza tray and throw it in your oven, but if you want the best pizza and the best flavour then you need to make your pizzas with fresh dough and fresh ingredients.

Fresh pizza dough is sticky so unless you want your toppings to fly off when you chuck your pizza in your pizza oven then you need a high quality timber pizza peel so your pizza slides off with ease.

While your pizza is in the oven you'll also need to rotate the pizza while it is cooking and a pizza spinner makes this an easy process.  After around 2 minutes your pizzas will be ready and a Pizza Peel will be needed to take your pizza out.

Another task that's required when cooking in a wood-fired pizza oven is moving the hot coals and burning timber around your oven using a timber rake as well as sweeping the cooking surface clean with a pizza oven brush.

As these tools are constantly used while cooking pizzas, it's a great idea to have all your pizza oven tools close by and in a pizza tool stand so you can quickly grab the right tool when you need it.

This is just a short list of essential pizza tools that make cooking pizza in a woodfired pizza oven an easier process. As you browse through our list of pizza oven accessories you'll see that there are so many other accessories that will help you cook the perfect crispy crust pizza.

This is a matter of preference; some people swear by pizza trays for ease of use and to achieve evenly cooked crispy bases in normal ovens. They make it easier to put pizzas in the oven however, they aren’t essential. Also cooking pizzas on the brick base of your pizza oven will always lead to a crispy base.

A pizza spinner is one of the most essential pieces of kit you will use when cooking pizzas in a blazing hot wood fire oven, to ensure one side doesn’t burn you must spin pizzas regularly. Gently place the spinner under the base of the pizza and with a gentle flick of your wrist spin the pizza 90 degrees

We highly recommend a cover for all BBQs, not just wood fired pizza ovens. However if your pizza oven is under cover it may not be necessary.

Pizza tray with holes or pizza mesh trays have their place. This type of pizza tray is ideal when you are cooking pizza in your conventional oven as it allows the base of your pizza to crisp up from the heat in the oven. If you have a pizza stone then it is better to cook directly on the stone surface.

We recommend the range of Flaming Coals Cast Iron cookware inside a wood fired pizza oven. They have been specially designed to handle the intensity of heat and will deliver incredible results.
