How to Cook a Budget Steak
How to Cook a Budget Steak
Transform a cheap steak into a restaurant-worthy, flavour-packed steak that you'd pay good money for!
YOU WILL NEED
* 1 chuck-eye steak
* Soy sauce
TOOLS & MATERIALS
* Hasty Bake (or other BBQ grills)
* Meat thermometer
* Tongs
* Grill Grates
* Timer
THE PREP
You've got your steak, your grill, and your charcoal ready; let's get started!
First, let's transform this cheap steak into a restaurant-worthy, flavour-packed piece of meat worth paying a premium for. We'll marinate to accomplish this! Place the meat in a ziplock bag or a deep enough dish and cover with soy sauce until completely submerged. Allow it to marinade for 15-20 minutes, just long enough for the flavour and moisture to penetrate the meat.
After that, blot the steak dry with a paper towel and season it. We used Classic Steak Rub and Prime Steak Rub, but you can use whatever you like.
THE COOK
It's time to light the grill! Preheat the Hasty Bake (or other grills) to 600 degrees Fahrenheit (315 degrees Celsius). Place the meat on the grill grates over direct heat and let it cook.
Cook the steak until it reaches an internal temperature of 135°F (58°C). This will go faster than you think - if you want hash marks on your steak, now is the time to do it. Grill for 2-3 minutes before rotating 45°. Repeat for another 2-3 minutes before flipping. After the last rotation, use your meat thermometer to check the internal temperature and cook until done.
THE REWARD
Remove the steak from the oven after it has reached the desired internal temperature. Allow it to sit for at least 10 minutes to allow its fluids to reabsorb.
All that remains is to place it on a dish, serve it with your favourite side, and enjoy the game!
I can't wait to see what you guys accomplish with this dish and I'll see you on the next one!
